KUCHING: The Sarawak government has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Yunnan Taixian Coffee to develop the coffee industry in the state.
The MoU is to promote, develop and enhance research collaboration between the two parties in fostering the transfer and exchange of knowledge and innovative technology in coffee production with the entire supply chain and industrial value in Sarawak.
Both sides will cooperate in strengthening and developing things such as establishing modern coffee nurseries, training and research centres to support future operations and development.
The MoU signing was witnessed by Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom during his work visit to Yunnan Taixian Biotechnology Co. Ltd in China on Tuesday.
The Sarawak government was represented by the Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB) at the MoU signing.
Among those present during the ceremony were Dr Rundi’s deputy Datuk Martin Ben and advisor in the Sarawak Premier’s Office Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom.
