BETONG: The Sarawak government is waiting for Putrajaya’s decision to allow anyone to cross the state or district after getting two doses of vaccine.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the matter had been informed by Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“It will be discussed in the National Security Council (MKN) of which Sarawak is a member.
“Whether it is possible to go here and there after getting two doses of vaccine, we are waiting for the decision,” he told reporters after inspecting the Betong Division Vaccination Centre at Dewan Panglima Rentap, today.
Uggah, who is also the chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), hoped that the vaccination process in Sarawak could be sped up.
“It is clear that case statistics in Sarawak still show high figures. The numbers fluctuate daily; therefore we must remain vigilant,” the Bukit Saban assemblyman said.
“This is because many of the new clusters emerged due to social activities. Therefore, I ask you to avoid holding social gatherings, where standard operating procedures (SOPs) are difficult to adhere to,” he said.
He then moved to Masjid Darul Syifa in Spaoh, to present a cheque amounting to RM500,000 to the mosque Management Committee chairman Wan Setia Wan Akil.
