MUKAH: Sarawak will send a taekwondo team to participate in several tournaments in Perak, Selangor and Sibu in July and August.

Mukah Tunas Taekwondo Club head coach Zaidi Morshidi said a total of 20 participants and six officials will compete in the Martial Arts Taekwondo Championship 2024 at the SJKC Sam Chai Hall in Ipoh, Perak on July 20 and 21.

 “In addition, a total of 29 participants and seven officials will attend the Sarawak State Schools Invitation Taekwondo Martial Arts Tournament at SMP Catholic High Sibu on July 27 and 28.

 “A total of eight participants along with three officers will go to the Sabree Salleh Open and Invitational Taekwondo Championship 2024 at Dewan D’ Cerana at the Shah Alam Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), Selangor on Aug 2 to 4,” he said.

He added that the participants of the tournament consist of secondary and primary school students from 14 schools.

 Among them are SJKC Chong Boon Mukah, SK Agama MIS Mukah, SK Agama MIS Miri, SJKC Chung Hua Sibuti, SJKC Batu 7 Malang and SK Kampung Selanyau.

 Meanwhile, the secondary schools involved are SMK Luar Bandar Miri, SMK Bekenu, SMK Kai Chong Bintangor, SMK Mukah, SMK ST Patrick, SMK Lopeng Tengah Miri, SMK Bandar Semariang and Vocational College Bintulu.

Zaidi also informed that Press Metal Aluminum Holding Berhad has agreed to donate Taekwondo uniforms, T-shirts and tracksuits to the Sarawak team for the tournaments in Ipoh and Selangor.

With this support and contribution, he hopes that his team will be successful and bring home medals to Sarawak.
