LUNDU: The Kabaddi competition at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 entered its second day on Wednesday, with Sarawak’s teams experiencing both triumphs and setbacks.

In the morning session, the match held at Dewan Masyarakat Lundu here saw the Sarawak women’s team face a tough match against Selangor, resulting in an 18-40 defeat.

Despite their efforts, Sarawak trailed throughout, ending the first half with a score of 8-16 and falling further behind in the second half, which concluded at 10-24.

However, the afternoon session saw a remarkable performance from the Sarawak men’s team, who secured a dominant victory against Terengganu with a score of 60-18.

Sarawak established a strong lead early on, finishing the first half ahead by 25 points at 36-11.

They continued to widen the gap in the second half, adding 24 more points while allowing only 7 from Terengganu.

In another intense match, the Sarawak women’s team returned to the court, this time against Terengganu.

The game was closely contested, but Sarawak managed to edge out their opponents with a narrow 32-30 win.

Sarawak led the first half with a 5-point margin at 16-11. Although Terengganu fought back in the second half, scoring 19 points to Sarawak’s 16, Sarawak’s overall lead ensured their victory by a slim 2-point margin.

The Kabaddi action will continue on Thursday, with the Sarawak men’s team scheduled to face Melaka, while the Sarawak women’s team will compete against Penang.
