Sarawak to battle Sabah for men’s recurve team gold

KUCHING: Sarawak’s men’s recurve team has advanced to the archery final, where they will face Sabah on Friday (Aug 23).

The team, comprising Isaac Ann Zhe Ting, Melvin Tieh Xuan Ruey, and Liew Yu Jie—who recently secured a bronze medal in the men’s recurve 70m category on Sunday (Aug 18), ranked second with a total score of 1,914, just behind Sabah’s 1,929.

Johor will compete against the Federal Territories for the bronze medal.

In the mixed team recurve category, women’s recurve 70m gold medalist Joey Tan Xing Lei and Yu Jie ranked first with a total score of 1,294, earning them an automatic advancement to the quarter-finals.

Selangor followed closely with a score of 1,276.

However, the women’s recurve team did not qualify for the semi-finals, finishing with a score of 1,692. Terengganu led the category with a score of 1,836, followed by Selangor with 1,821.
