KUCHING: The proposal to establish a functioning and robust governance which shall include providing input for implementation and evaluation of Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) in Sarawak is one of the main takeaways Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah experienced from her recent visit to Finland.
In a statement yesterday, she said through visits that had been carried out, it was found that through the establishment of the Youth Council and solid support from the local municipality and the government, it has a very respectable impression in fulfilling the CFCI.
“Not only able to achieve the CFCI’s dream of listening to the voices of every age group, but this can also fulfil the needs in creating and building infrastructure and facilities that can be used by all walks of life,” she said.
In addition to that, another takeaway is the establishment of a Youth Council that will act as an intermediary between children aged 18 and under.
As a continuation to the dialogue programme at CaxiaForum Madrid, the delegates were brought for site visits to the city of Feunlabrada, Madrid, and three other cities in Helsinki, Hameenlinna and Vantaa, Finland.
The visit gave a very impactful and useful input for all delegates whose cities has signed in for CFCI five local municipals in Sarawak, that has signed up with UNICEF, namely Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), Kuching South City Council (MBKS) , Miri City Council (MCC) , Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).
