KUCHING: The women’s tenpin bowling team clinched the gold medal in the women’s trio event, amassing an impressive 3,918 points.

The trio of Lavinia Jia Jhe Kho (1224), Nur Hazirah Ramli (1225), and Asya Dania Azree (1142) outclassed their opponents.

This victory underscores Sarawak’s strength in bowling, solidifying the sport as a gold mine for the state in this competition.

Over the four-day event, which featured four different categories, the team secured four gold medals.

This remarkable achievement has raised expectations among Sarawak supporters, who are now hopeful that the athletes will continue their stellar performances in upcoming events.

Meanwhile, Selangor claimed the silver medal, and Kedah took home the bronze.

In the men’s category, Negeri Sembilan emerged victorious, followed by Penang and Perak.

Two more categories will be contested — the team events (men’s and women’s) on Monday (Aug 19), and the Masters (men’s and women’s) on Aug 20.

The medals were presented by Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at Megalanes Batu Kawa.
