KUCHING: Sarawakians are united, especially in ensuring all eligible recipients are vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity.

In pointing this out, Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu said such unity must be maintained so that Sarawak could overcome the Covid-19 pandemic as soon as possible.

“This unity is evident in the huge numbers of people vaccinated   in our jab centres, especially in the rural areas,” he told New Sarawak Tribune on Sunday (June 20).

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief was commenting on the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s recent remarks that lack of unity among Malaysians in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic had contributed to the high number of positive cases.

Rentap acknowledged that vaccinations were vital to socio economic recovery.

“Everyone must be vaccinated and strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set.

“We have no choice but to follow the SOPs if we want life to be back to normal,” he said.
