SIEM REAP, Cambodia: The 40 Sarawakians and three Sabahans freed by Cambodian authorities are expected to arrive in Kuching at 1.30pm today.
They are taking a chartered flight QD803 at 9.55am local time on Cambodia’s JC International Airlines.
They are expected to reach Kuching about 2pm. Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah who is leading a team of officials from Sarawak, including Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Sarawak Foreign Affairs Ministry director Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh will be on the same flight.
At 6 am local time, the Malaysians took a bus on a two-hour ride from Pyramid Hotel, in Banteay Meanchey to Siem Reap International Airport.
At the airport, they went through immigration for clearance. The freed Malaysians are excited and can’t wait to to be united with their families, whom they have not met for two months following their detention on Dec 11 in Poipet City.
The four West Malaysians took AirAsia flight AK543 at 8.35am local time and will arrive KLIA2 at 11.35am.
