KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian called on all Sarawakians to contribute to the state’s nation-building to achieve its 2030 goals.

Dr Sim, who is also the Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government asserted that Sarawak is now amplifying its economy, creating more talents, and taking back the autonomy in education and healthcare.

“We need everyone to come together because these next few years are so critical in terms of growing Sarawak’s income. This is so that come 2030, Sarawak will reach ‘adulthood’.

“Right now, we are growing up like children. People still can bully us. But once we are adults, people cannot bully us anymore,” he said.

He uttered this during the prize presentation for the Kuching Heritage Race held at SJK Chung Hua Batu Kawa yesterday.

The Batu Kawah assemblyman added that with Sarawak attaining autonomy in healthcare, and when the state generates more income, in turn, the state can provide quality healthcare services for all.

“Nation-building is a big agenda. By 2030, Sarawak will be very strong and the rest of Malaysia will admire us. So, let’s do our part in nation-building,” he said.

Earlier, he officiated the event with the theme ‘Old Town Batu Kawa’ organised by Kuching Heritage Awareness Society. The main objective of the race is to renew the interest and appreciation for the cultural and built heritage of Kuching.

The race successfully raised funds for several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) namely Persatuan Pendidikan D’Wira, Kuching Autistic Association, Mental Health Association of Sarawak, Sarawak Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Brooke Museums, and Special Olympics Kuching Chapter.
