SARIKEI: Sarawakians, especially those in Sarikei, are urged to participate in the upcoming 21st Malaysian Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA Sarawak 2024, set to take place in August.

Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab said he hoped to see a strong local support during the games, encouraging residents to attend and cheer on the athletes competing in various sports at nearby venues.

“I call on all residents of Sarikei Division to come out and show their unwavering support for the athletes competing in arenas nearby, particularly in the Betong, Sibu and Mukah Divisions,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the 21st SUKMA and Para SUKMA 2024 Baton Relay at the Kampung Seberang Integration Sports Complex here today (June 8).

Earlier, Yusuf flagged off of the baton relay which involved 500 participants from government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and associations from Sarikei.

The Baton Relay will continue in the Betong Division tomorrow.
