KUCHING: The upcoming Sarawak owned boutique airline will utilise sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced by the state.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this in response to a question when asked by reporters during a press conference after launching the Chitose Carbon Capture Central Sarawak (C4 Sarawak) at Sejingkat Power Plant, yesterday (May 10).
“Of course, we will use SAF. I have another (big) announcement to make during the upcoming Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), so I cannot reveal anything just yet,” he said.
LIMA is scheduled to take place from May 23 to 27.
Sarawak’s boutique airline is expected to commence within the next three years following the green light given by the federal government.
Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian; State Secretary and chairman of Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Energy chairman Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sepawi, deputy chief of mission from the Embassy of Japan Karimata Atsushi, Chitose Group Founder and chief executive officer Dr Tomohiro Fujita, Sarawak Energy group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili, SBC chief executive officer Dr Yeo Tiong Chia were among those present at the launching ceremony.
