KUCHING: Sarawak’s cyclist, Aimy Nazurah Rais, delivered an impressive performance by securing second place in the BMX race time trial held at Bukit Siol here.
Aimy Nazurah clocked a commendable time of 42.985 seconds on the 390-metre track.
This achievement has raised hopes among Sarawak supporters for winning their first cycling medal.
Puteri Balqis Masek from Johor secured the top spot with a record time of 42.878 seconds, while Ayra Marissa Zul Faqar from the Federal Territory finished third with a time of 43.101 seconds.
In the men’s category, Terengganu participants dominated, with Amer Akbar Anuar taking first place and Wan Muhammad Izzat Wan Mohd Baihaki securing third, recording times of 36.891 seconds and 38.088 seconds, respectively.
Second place went to Darwish Putra Muhd Sanusi from Kedah, who recorded a time of 37.277 seconds.
Despite Sarawak’s strong performance, their athletes had to settle for eighth and tenth places
However, the results are not yet final as all participants must go through the moto round to determine who qualifies for the semi-finals.
The semi-finals and finals for the BMX race will be held today (Monday) at the same venue for both the men’s and women’s categories.
