MUKAH: The harmony between the different ethnicities in Sarawak should be emulated.

In stating this, Deputy Minister of Economy and Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said such unity can be further seen during the ‘Niti Daun’ parade here.

“The inaugural parade is a proud moment for the local community. And the participants in this parade include a diverse range of ethnic groups, such as Iban, Melanau, Chinese, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Malay, and other communities from Mukah.

“The presence of such a diverse group is a shining example of the harmony and unity among the different ethnicities in Sarawak, which should be emulated,” she said.

About 4,000 individuals joined the vibrant ‘Niti Daun’ parade at the Pehin Setia Raja square recently.

She also said there is a beautiful display of unity as people from various ethnic backgrounds come together to celebrate ‘Ngiling Bidai’.

“The Ngiling Bidai Festival, with its cultural parade, provides an opportunity for Malaysians to appreciate the unique and diverse heritage of Sarawak’s people.

“This shows that our cultural arts and customs remain well preserved today, and I hope they will continue to be passed down to future generations,” she said.

Among those present were Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and Mukah Resident Kueh Lei Poh.
