Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth chief Michael Tiang said that it is very important for the youth to put aside their differences and unite, stand tall, be brave in uniting this land and protecting the state from harm.

“Our racial and religious harmony and our political stability which empowers our economic growth are just some of the many things we’ve come to take for granted of as a Sarawakian.

“While we may take all these for granted, we can and should never take for granted that things will stay the same,” he said.

He said as the people gather to welcome the year 2020, Sarawakians must remind themselves how hard Sarawak has fought to safeguard its way of life.

“Like the morning sun, in all its beauty and warmth, the youths of Sarawak must rise to be the midday sun that shines true and bright over Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu also called upon youth to work in unity to further enhance the progress of Sarawak, working to protect the state and people’s rights.

“In line with our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s and GPS government’s vision to see a fully developed state by 2030, let us (Sarawakians) all be united and work for Sarawak to see a brighter future for our children and future generations.

“Our unity is strength and let’s make Sarawak great together,” said Rentap.

PBB Youth deputy chief Miro Simuh said many has been achieved in the year 2019 but still, it is a tough year for Malaysians as the people are faced with so many uncertainties, especially the nation’s political scenario and economy.

“My wish for the coming 2020 is that we will work harder to execute our task and pray that more prosperity, peace and love will spread among Malaysians and a high tolerance among the multi-ethnic and race in this country,” he said.
