KUCHING: Sarawak’s ministers are making headlines for their tireless efforts and passion for the betterment of the state, according to a political pundit.
Datuk Peter Minos said the remarkable commitment is not limited to a single minister. He added that it appears to be a shared ethos among all Sarawak ministers.
“Obviously, they want to emulate the Sarawak Premier, who never seems to stop working, moving, and creating things.
“Very innovative and creative, and trying new ideas and applications all the time. All for the good of Sarawak and its people.
“We, the ordinary folk, are impressed. We are thankful that our ministers have the grit and determination to get things done,” he said in a statement.
While Sarawak’s ministers are setting an inspiring example, Minos called for civil servants to follow suit.
He expressed his hope that they will rise above bureaucratic red tape, excessive rules and regulations, and the fear of audits to fully support the ministers in their mission to serve the people.
Minos pointed out that the situation in Kuala Lumpur is considerably more cumbersome, citing examples like the protracted process of setting up a kidney service clinic by a non-governmental organisation.
On the other hand, he stated that Sarawakians are experiencing a prevailing sense of stability in the state.
“Sarawakians see that the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is working diligently, doing its best for the people.
“The people are getting more united and living pretty harmoniously with each other.
“The ministers are non-stop working, and politics remains stable, with the economy moving and improving.”
However, he lamented that it would be better if the federal government addressed pressing national issues, such as the rising cost of living and the declining value of the ringgit.
“Whatever happens in the Peninsular and Sabah, it is wise and good that Sarawakians must continue making Sarawak the ‘best place in Malaysia’.”
