Sarawak’s total now hits 936 with 9 new cases

KUCHING: Nine new Covid-19 cases were reported in Sarawak today, pushing the total number of cases to 936.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the nine cases, eight were in Kuching and one in Miri.

Case 928 is classified as Import B, involving a local man who had returned to Sarawak from Negeri Sembilan via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Nov 1.

“Upon arrival at Kuching International Airport (KIA), the man was checked in to a hotel to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

“He underwent rT-PCR screening on Nov 2 and tested positive on Nov 3,” said SDMC today.

Case 930 is a local woman who visited a premises that had been visited by cases from the Greenhill Cluster and was detected through self-screening at a private hospital here on Nov 2.

There are five cases detected from contact tracing for the Wisma Saberkas Cluster.

“Case 929 is a local man who underwent self-screening at a private hospital on Nov 3 after having visited Wisma Saberkas.

“Cases 932 and 933 involved two friends aged 18 and 21 who underwent self-screening at a private laboratory on Nov 2 after previously visiting Wisma Saberkas.

“Cases 934 and 935 are local workers at Wisma Saberkas who had undergone Covid-19 screening through active case detection (ACD) conducted by the State Health Department on Nov 2 at Wisma Saberkas.”

Case 936 involves a man who had undergone Covid-19 screening at a government health clinic after having close contact with Case 900.

“The case has been suffering from fever and cough since Oct 19 but was cured two days later.”

Case 931 in Miri, SDMC said, was a Vietnamese woman who had been in Miri for the past eight months. 

“The case has been treated at a private hospital in Miri on Nov 2 due to cough and fever since Oct 30.

“The case underwent screening at the same hospital and the results of the rT-PCR were positive on Nov 3. The case was admitted to Miri Hospital for further treatment.”
