KUCHING: Sarawak Esports Expo 2024 (SAREX24) will be the prelude for the upcoming Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024.
President of Sarawak Esports Association (SESA), Afiq Fadhli Narawi said that the event would be held at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, here from July 5 until 7 this year.
“This event aims to provide our athletes and management team with the final push they need to excel,” he said during the launching of PC Image Esports Roadshow at VivaCity Megamall here today.
Meanwhile, on the roadshow, Afiq said that SESA is hosting the Tekken 8 and eFootball 2024 tournaments with over 65 players participating (33 for Tekken 8 and 32 for eFootball) and these particular categories are included in the SUKMA categories.
Two winners in eFootball tournaments of this roadshow will be selected to represent Sarawak in the national selection for the World Esports Championship 2024 (WEC2024) in Kuala Lumpur on April 20, 2024.
“I would like to express my gratitude to PC Image for this collaboration, your support is profoundly meaningful, and we need more private sector partners like you to join us in advancing this esports initiative” he said when expressing his appreciation to PC Image.
“PC Image’s provision of gaming peripherals and equipment for our athletes further symbolises your commitment to our shared goals”, he added.
The PC Image Esports Roadshow will be held from April 5 until 7, showcasing various esports tournaments such as Valorant, Dota 2, Tekken 8 and eFootball.
This event aims to promote awareness and expose the public on the existence of esports in today’s generation.
Also present to officiate at the event was Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu .
