KUCHING: Some 70 recipients in Satok constituency mostly from village development and security committees (JKKKs), parent-teacher associations, sports and recreation clubs and associations received minor rural project (MRP) grants today (Dec 24).

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki was on hand to present the cheques at a simple handover ceremony which was held at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok Service Centre here.

He said the grants were part of efforts to help the community, especially in the Satok area from various aspects.

“In terms of the infrastructure of the schools, mosques and others, this fund can and hopefully will be used, to some extent, for repairing the buildings and to help the organisations implement activities or programmes for the benefit of all parties,” he told reporters after handing over the MRP grants to the recipients at the PBB Satok Service Centre here.

He also hoped that this donation could help to ease the burden borne by the less fortunate.
