KUCHING: The WAK Festival 2024 kicked off yesterday (Oct 25) at The Borneo Hotel with “The Art of Food,” a three-day culinary celebration showcasing Borneo’s rich food culture.

This event, a collaboration between The Borneo Hotel, CHASS, and UCCN Kuching City of Gastronomy, highlights the region’s diverse culinary traditions, indigenous ingredients, and artistic expressions.

“This event showcases the diverse flavours and unique culinary practices of the region, featuring local chefs and food artisans eager to share their passion for both traditional and contemporary dishes,” said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan during the launching ceremony at the festival.

Visitors can participate in hands-on sessions, such as bespoke balm-making workshops using local ingredients like engkabang butter.

They can also savour a variety of authentic Bornean flavors, from traditional to contemporary dishes.
“The Art of Food” runs until Oct 27, with daily activities starting at 4 pm.

Admission is free.
