KUCHING: Love is already in the air as Valentine’s Day is just a few days away and an increase in orders of flowers for the special day is anticipated.
Here people have already started ordering flowers in conjunction with the Day of Love which will be celebrated on Feb 14.
A florist, Puspa from Surprise Delivery Kuching, said customers had already started buying flowers and most of them were ordered online for the upcoming Valentine’s Day celebrations.
“Similar to previous years, we started accepting orders in early February. Usually, two days before Valentine’s Day, the number of orders will increase.
“This situation caused us to work until late at night to complete the customer’s bookings,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.
On the prices of flowers sold, she said, for example one bundle of Kenya Roses is around RM70 to RM75 while China Roses is around RM50 to RM55.
“However, we choose Kenya Roses as they are more lasting compared to China Roses,” she said, adding that one could never go wrong with fresh red roses and classic red roses design is the best seller.
“The special type of bouquet for this year is Chanel style bouquet while the other type of flowers that can be given during Valentine’s Day is fresh Baby Breath bouquets,” she said.
For plastic flower orders, she said they will prepare them in advance while fresh flower orders will be made two or a day before Valentine’s Day to maintain the freshness and quality of the flowers.
“One of the most expensive types of roses is Ecuador roses which is imported from the Republic of Ecuador. The one reason for the increasing price is because of the high demand but the supply did not increase,” she said.
Asked about the type of flower arrangements often ordered by customers, Puspa said they would usually request the arrangement to include candy, chocolates, teddy bears or soft toys, and even money.
“The majority of customers also prefer black and red colour flowers over pink,” she added.
Beside flowers, Surprise Delivery Kuching also has teddy bears from small to big sizes, love chocolate box, box balloons, money bouquet, snack food bouquet, Ferrero Rocher bouquet which is suitable for Valentine’s Day. The lowest price range is from RM99 onwards.
“Fortunately, we accept online orders and now most of our business comes from digital platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and so on,” she said.
“We will also set up a Valentine’s Daybooth at the main entrance, One Jaya Mall, Jalan Song from Feb 12 to 14,” she said.
