KUCHING: Sayang Pantai Damai Squad (SSPD) handed over contributions through the ‘Sumbangsih Gawai Raya Programme’ to 40 recipients in the Pantai Damai constituency last Saturday.
Rural Electricity Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said it was the SSPD welfare programme in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak and Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
According to him, the contributions in the form of food and cash were distributed to the recipients who included senior citizens, chronic patients and single mothers.
“At the same time, SSPD also helps to get the information to register members of the community who are eligible to receive the Social Welfare Department’s assistance,” he said when presenting the contributions at several areas in Pantai Damai here.
Meanwhile, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women chief of Pantai Damai Jamaiyah Sulaiman said,
“Our programme is two-in-one; while we contribute, we are also looking for those who need welfare assistance.”
