KUCHING: The Sarawak Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) will take on an even more prominent role by assisting the Ministry of Transport (MOT) in implementing the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) here.

Chairman of LPKP Michael Kong Feng Nian, in a statement, said with 56 city buses planned under the SBST coupled with Sarawak Metro’s KUTS, Kuching will witness a significant transformation in its public transportation system in the coming year.

“I am reassured that Sarawak Metro acknowledges the importance of this aspect and plans to roll out 55 shuttle buses to service these critical routes,” he said  after attending a briefing session from Sarawak Metro recently.

“With the red and blue lines slated to operate by the end of 2025, I also extended an invitation to all the MPs and assemblymen whose constituencies will be impacted by the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS),” he added.

He also looked forward to working together with Sarawak Metro and all industry players to elevate its public transportation system to greater heights.
