PADAWAN: A 30-year-old woman, wanted by police to help them investigate a scam case, turned herself in on Monday.
The suspect from Asajaya surrendered herself at the Padawan police headquarters around 10am following a media announcement two weeks ago.
District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the suspect was involved in an investment fraud case by an alleged cosmetics company.
He explained that the victim had lodged a police report after being deceived by the suspect and the investment company; she had failed to get the investment profit as promised.
According to the report, the victim had paid cash to the suspect by transferring the money to an account in the name of the suspect’s company.
“During questioning, the suspect admitted to taking RM15,000 from the victim. She also handed over the money in stages to a man. However, no information on the man was provided.
“The investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further actions,” said Aidil, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
