KUCHING: Kuching High School recently held its Excellence Awards Ceremony (Extracurricular Activities).
The guest of honour at the event was Penghulu Tan Tuan Woo @ Tan Tuan Yee, who is also president of the Kuching Teochew Association.
In Tan’s speech, he encouraged students not only to perform well in their studies but to also pay attention to extracurricular activities so that they will become well-rounded individuals.
“Never give up, always work hard and try to improve yourselves at all times,” he said.
Lastly, he reminded them to be grateful of the efforts and deeds done by their principal, teachers and coaches.
School principal Tan Kiang Tuang emphasised on the development of the students’ potential in a holistic and integrated manner.
Brandon Tan Tze Yuan had received the Promising Male Athlete Award while the Promising Female Athlete Award went to Kelly Teo Yao. Lim Jie and Lim Jan Ning captured the best Male Athlete and best Female Athlete respectively.
The best Male Co-Academic award went to Sim Dong Hao and the best Female Co-Academic award was held by Tan Si Ning.
Brendan Tong Cheng Chiat won the best Male of the Uniform Unit award and Christabelle Yap Chen Ning took the best Female of the Uniform Unit award.
The recipients for the King’s Scout confirmation status were Brandon Ong, Brendan Tong, Christabelle Yap and Jacqueline Jee.
Other awards given out were Excellent Leadership in Extracurricular Activities, Student Achievement Awards, Team Achievement Awards, Excellent Club Management Awards, Excellent Teacher Awards, Excellent Notice Board Awards, Certificates of Recognition from the Kuching Education District Office, Certificates of Appreciation to coaches and members of school cooperative, Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya (PRS), SPBT, Special Task Force, School Magazine and School Diary.
