KUCHING: SK Kenyalang has received an allocation of RM122,600 to upgrade the school’s basketball court as well as for the construction of a canopy outside its administration office and teachers’ office.
The contribution was handed over by incumbent Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii who stated that the canopy is to provide for a more comfortable environment for students and staff especially when it rains.
He said the school’s basketball court is very old with an uneven surface and severe cracks in many places which pose a safety concern for students and staff.
Dr Yii said his constituency office had also allocated more than RM40,000 to the school earlier to improve some of the poor infrastructure particularly windows and doors of the staff office which were severely damaged by termites.
“At the same time, we also allocated RM23,000 to the school to restore the old floor of its conference room and re-tile it,” he said on Wednesday.
He added that most of the fire extinguishers in the school building are also in urgent need of replacement.
