MIRI: The Sarawak government has always been committed in assisting the Chinese schools in the State. On Monday, a total RM1.5 million was announced as allocation to Pei Min Middle School Miri by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg.

This announcement was made at the earth breaking ceremony for the administration block of the school at Jalan Jee Foh 4 here in Miri. The allocation is meant to help funding for the school’s administration block construction project worth RM15 million. Abang Johari also added that the fund amount would be added up, if BN candidate for Miri parliamentary P 219, Datuk Sebastian Ting, wins the seat.

“The school will receive another RM2 million if our BN candidate Datuk Sebastian wins the parliamentary seat in this GE14,” he announced. Currently, the school’s working committee managed to raise fund amounting to RM5 million. The five-floor administration building once completed could accommodate 2,000 students.

He also reminded people in the State not to emulate Peninsula Malaysia’s trend, during election campaign where they tend to fight amongst one another. “Regardless of your races, whether you are Iban, Malay, Chinese, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu….we all are brothers and sisters…we are living together in peace and harmony… hence, preserve this unique bond,” he said.

“Stay united…I hope on the May 9 (vote counting), when they count the vote on May 9 (night), I want to hear ‘Miri wins majority 2,000 votes, Sebastian Ting, that is what I want to hear… we will continue to develop Miri,” he concluded.
