KUCHING: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Ahmad Zaidi received RM150,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds from Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
“This fund is given to install air conditioners in this school hall which had previously been disrupted,” he said at the school’s excellent students’ award ceremony here, on Wednesday.
According to him, the project was delayed after the new government took over the administration and cancelled all plans including funding to install air conditioners at the school’s hall.
“I was made to understand that the Ministry of Education would probably not able to channel funds to schools in Sarawak as before.
“Therefore, the support from the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in donating funds is highly appreciated,” he stressed.
Fadillah added the fund for this project was previously under the People’s Friendly Programme (Program Mesra Rakyat) before the administration was taken over by Pakatan Harapan.
“All the previously agreed plans have been cancelled by them (Pakatan Harapan), so we (state government) will help to continue the previous plans through the RTP funds,” he explained, adding that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had given the RTP funds to each MP for development purposes.
The RTP project launched by the state government in 2015 has benefited the people especially rural and remote villagers.
