ROBAN: The allocation under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to improve Federal Government-owned premises has brought significant benefits to children in their pursuit of education.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri stated that the Sarawak Government is attentive to the current needs of schools.

“Through the RTP programme for representatives, we apply for school infrastructure improvements.

“Due to the Sarawak Government’s (GPS) concern, the request was approved, and I believe this reflects a high commitment to enhancing comfort for the school community,” he told reporter yesterday.

He hopes that Federal Government allocations in the education sector budget will benefit rural schools, including those in the Kalaka constituency.

This year, Mohamad added that Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kalaka, Roban, was among the schools that will benefit from the RTP project.

“At SMK Kalaka, we are upgrading the road and other facilities. I have requested that JSN Construction, as the contractor, to complete the project on schedule,” he said.

Expressing gratitude, he mentioned that many schools in the Kalaka constituency still require upgrades due to aging infrastructures.

However, due to budget constraints, the upgrades are being scheduled in phases and rotations.

Mohamad was represented by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka Branch Secretary, Gapor Ahmad, during the project site handover to the contractor.
