MARUDI: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Laong, Bakong, will undergo significant improvements, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr. Penguang Manggil said.
He pledged assistance for the enhancement of the school, which includes refurbishing the school field and addressing necessary repairs.
“I will allocate funds to SK Sungai Laong next year to level the field and implement similar improvements,” he said during his speech at the Biennial Sports Championship of SK Sungai Laong yesterday (Jan 25).
The Marudi assemblyman commended the school for its successful organisation of the sports event and encouraged residents of the nine longhouses in the Sungai Laong area to collaborate with the school to further the progress of its students.
Earlier that day, Dr. Penguang also officiated at the Annual Sports Championship of SK Kuala Bok, Tinjar, before proceeding to SK Sungai Laong.
Also present were Marudi Council chairman Edward Mendai, SK Sungai Laong principal Johnny Harris Mohamad Shamsudin, administrative officer of Tinjar sub-district Alvin Mang Nyuim, and chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SK Sungai Laong John Malang.
