Sleepwalking girl found 4km from hostel

SIBU: A seven-year-old girl, reported missing from her school dormitory at Sungai Menyan, Nibong Tada Road, here, was found safe by the public yesterday.

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre deployed firemen from the Sibu Fire and Rescue Station to the location after receiving a call on the incident at 8.03am yesterday.  

The Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was conducted with relevant agencies and villagers around the school and surrounding areas.

The SAR teams received information from the public, saying the child was found in a private home on the way to SK Sg. Senibong.

“The distance from the reported location to the found location is 4km,” said the centre, adding that the child was found at 10.55am.

The child was found safe and in good health. She was handed over to the police for further action.
