KUCHING: Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) has announced a strategic partnership with Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB), Zecon Berhad (ZECON), and Global Network Inc (GNI) to develop and invest in the landmark Kota Petra Green Technology Park (KPGTP).

The collaboration was formalised at the Signing and Exchange Ceremony of the Strategic Collaboration Agreement, witnessed by Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Chairman of SDEC, on Tuesday (Nov 19).

This partnership marks a pivotal step in Sarawak’s journey toward becoming a regional leader in green technologies and digital infrastructure, with the KPGTP serving as a sustainable and innovative development model.

By combining the expertise and resources of the four partners, the project aims to create a high-tech township that integrates cutting-edge infrastructure with green technologies, driving economic growth and advancing Sarawak’s long-term sustainability goals.

Morshidi said the agreement signifies a crucial step for Sarawak, ushering in a new era of sustainability and digital innovation.

“I believe that by harnessing cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions, we are on the right track to accelerate economic growth, enhance environmental stewardship, and improve the quality of life for the people of Sarawak,” he said.

Currently in its initial development phase, KPGTP is pursuing designation as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Malaysia Digital Cybercity (MDC), key statuses expected to attract substantial foreign direct investment (FDI) to Sarawak.

SDEC will spearhead the integration of advanced digital infrastructure at KPGTP, positioning it as a modern industrial hub while supporting Sarawak’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) to attract data centre investments and drive economic growth.
