KUCHING: Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) is working on better aligning its mission and objectives, focus areas and activities with the state’s development agenda, such as the PCDS 2030.

Its chairman Datuk Amar Jaul Samion who said this revealed it was necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic which has caused a major developmental shift especially in the economic, social, education, public health and environmental sectors.

“Thus, our role in understanding the challenges and opportunities arising from this shift is crucial.
“Therefore, I wish to share that SDI is undergoing a strategic direction exercise,” he said at the Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Chinese New Year gathering here today.

“I am truly glad that the Covid-19 pandemic is now no longer a serious threat to public health, although it is still advisable to maintain the SOPs as necessary.”

Thus, gatherings such as this is a welcome change to reconnect with each other face-to-face, he added.

“I know both AZAM and SDI together with the subsidiaries play a pivotal role in assisting the government to disseminate, communicate, engage and provide a better understanding of the development initiatives in the state to the grassroots community.
