KUCHING: A virtual “Brown Bag” session titled “AI Meets Art: Overview of Text-To-Image Artificial Intelligence, Issues, and Opportunities’ will be held next Tuesday (February 21) at 3 p.m via zoom.

Organised by Sarawak Development Institute (SDI), the talk will be presented by Associate Professor Dr Johari Abdullah, who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and also member of SDI.

“The talk will cover the usage of AI in the creative industry and provide an overview of many AI-enabled text-to-image platforms, the technology underlying them, the difficulties associated with this technology such as the influence on artists, copyright, and negative exploitation of the technology, and what potential this technology provides,” it said in a press release.

Among the topics that will be discussed in the session is the proliferation of AI-enabled text-to-image generating platforms like DALLE-2, MidJourney and Stable Diffusion.

The session is open to members of the public, and those interested can register via SDI’s Facebook page and website or by calling SDI’s office at 082-415484/416484.
