KUCHING: Hollywood martial arts star Steven Seagal arrived here today to attend the Fourth Asean International Film Festival and Awards (Aiffa) from tomorrow until April 27.
Aiffa officials led by Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports permanent secretary Hii Chang Kee were present at Kuching International Airport to welcome him about 2.15pm.
Seagal, who is among several local and international celebrities invited to add pomp and grandeur to this year’s Aiffa, will be here throughout the three-day festival.
He will stay on after the festival and will only depart the state for Singapore on April 30.
Segal is best known for action movies such as Under Siege, Half Past Dead, Exit Wounds, On Deadly Ground, Urban Justice, Machete, Out For Justice, Hard To Kill, Marked For Death and Above The Law.
While in the state, apart from attending most of the programmes lined up for this year’s Aiffa, Segal will also hold a press conference at the Old Court House, Sarawak Tourism Complex and will meet his fans at the same venue at 3pm on April 27.
On Aiffa’s sidelines, the veteran actor is scheduled to visit a Buddhist settlement, Siniawan, and Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Jalan Puncak Borneo on April 28. In Semenggoh he is expected to take part in a tree-planting ceremony.
Aiffa Gala Night will be held on April 27 at Pullman Hotel where Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate.
