KAPIT: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a longhouse resident who went missing in a forest near Rumah Tiso, Nanga Merit, has been called off.

According to the Kapit fire and rescue department (Bomba), the man identified as 50-year-old Lega Ikok, has been missing for seven days.

It was reported that he left his longhouse to go hunting on Apr 27 but never returned home.

His concerned wife then lodged a police report on Apr 29 after local villagers failed to find him.

Following the police report, a SAR operations was immediately launched by Bomba, police and Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel.

The man was last seen wearing a black shirt and trousers. Earlier on, he had complained of chest pains.
