Search for missing man enters second day

SRI AMAN: Search and rescue efforts for a missing man who was last seen at Sungau Tatai, Lachau have entered its second day.

The SAR operation was launched on Friday for 56-year-old Reggie Jumbu, who went missing after a fishing trip on Thursday.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the search was divided into two sectors (land and river).

Four boats owned by the villagers were used to conduct the search at the river while, 20 villagers volunteered to assist the search team.

However, the operation commander expressed dissatisfaction on the Government Integrated Radio Network (GIRN).

The department was alerted at 1.06pm on Friday by the Lachau police station requesting assistance.

The complainant (a sibling of the missing man) lodged a missing person report when the victim failed to return home since Thursday.

As at 5pm, there was still no trace of the victim.
