BALINGIAN: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for Perau Angga, 74, who went missing in a forest at Rumah Bunak, Tepus, here entered its fifth day, yesterday.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation commander said that the search operation yesterday focused on a forest within a 10-km radius at Sungai Rusa after one of the three search groups picked up a scent at Sungai Rusa.

Firefighters and longhouse residents set out to look for Perau on the fifth day yesterday.

The operation led by Assistant Fire Superintendent Nazari Harun comprised a dozen firefighters, two policemen, 10 Civil Defence Force (ATM) personnel and 27 longhouse residents.

After nearly five hours, all the SAR members returned to disaster control centre at Rumah Tepus here to deliberate and later decided to call off the search operation with the family’s consent and those involved in the search.

Operation commander added that the search operation reached a dead end yesterday without any new lead but will continue today (Monday).
