Search underway for missing septuagenarian

KAPIT: An elderly woman has been reported missing after failing to return home from collecting crops on Monday (Jan 22).

The victim is identified as Tendai Apat, 70, from Rh Samon Nanga Entalawan.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Kapit station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 8am.

At the time of writing, the search and rescue (SAR) operation is currently underway.

So far, Tendai is yet to be found.

Last Monday, longhouse folks had noticed the victim leaving around 7am to go to a farm to collect crops while using a longboat.

The victim is said to have not returned home until today after going to the farm.
