KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has launched its Tree Planting and Habitat Restoration Campaign from 2021 to 2030, aimed at restoring local ecosystems and addressing climate change.
The programme was officiated by Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Utilities Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi yesterday (Sept 12).
The campaign’s target is to plant 500,000 trees in deforested areas, showcasing SEB’s strong commitment to environmental conservation.
Alongside the tree-planting initiative, the campaign also includes educational efforts to raise public awareness on environmental preservation.
By partnering with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies, SEB seeks to rejuvenate sustainable forests and enhance biodiversity.
SEB aims to plant over 500,000 trees by 2030, with the community’s participation playing a central role.
This initiative marks a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Sarawak, contributing to carbon capture and Malaysia’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
