KUCHING: Sarawak Energy is taking every measure to ensure reliable electricity supply for the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) scheduled from Aug 17 to 24.
It is providing technical support and deploying mobile generators at key venues.
“As a gold sponsor, Sarawak Energy is fully committed to supporting Sarawak as it hosts the Games for the third time,” said chief executive officer Lau Kim Swee of Syarikat Sesco Berhad (Sesco), the utility arm of Sarawak Energy.
“Our role is to ensure a reliable supply of electricity, which is essential for an event of this scale.”
He said the company has taken all possible precautions to prevent disruptions at the venues.
“Our technical support teams will be on standby 24/7, ready to address any issues including quick restoration if there is a supply interruption.
“We are deploying about 100 technical staff across all venues, ensuring immediate response to any potential issues. Our team is prepared to handle any power supply situation to ensure the success of Sukma,” he said.
Sarawak Energy is also focusing on preventative measures, including the maintenance and inspection of power lines and cables at each venue to ensure the infrastructure can meet the demands of the event.
Additionally, generator sets will be installed at key competition venues across the state to provide reliable backup support.
This year’s Sukma will span nine divisions namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, and Miri, and will feature 488 events across 37 sports.
