KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) is intensifying its efforts to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply throughout Sarawak, particularly for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

In a recent statement, SESCO, the operational and retail arm of the company, is actively monitoring all aspects of its operations and has implemented necessary preparations, including contingency plans.

SEB assures the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to address any challenges that may arise for a smooth and enjoyable Hari Raya celebration.

“We have a competent and dedicated technical team on duty to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply for our valued customers. The team diligently monitors the system loading conditions to ensure supply stability.”

“Our standby teams are ready to respond swiftly to any supply disruptions. They are available 24/7 and will be immediately deployed for safe and efficient restoration works, with allocated generators prepared accordingly,” SEB said.

SEB also seeks the cooperation of the public in complying with electrical safety practices to maintain safety throughout the celebrations.

These practices include inspecting electrical wiring to ensure it is well-maintained, and preventing electrical trips before the festivities.

When fixing festive lights, it is advised to avoid overloading electrical sockets with multiple pin adapters and extension cables to prevent potential fires caused by electrical circuit overload.

Additionally, it is important to ensure that all electrical sockets are in good condition.

Furthermore, SEB urges the public to promptly report any instances of trees or shrubs touching overhead lines and any suspicious activities near electrical facilities to prevent outages, vandalism, and cable theft.

“We also advise against illegal internal wiring extensions, particularly during festive periods, as they can overload the electrical system and pose a fire hazard,” it added.
