LIMBANG: Sarawak Energy and the the District Education Office (PPD) recently held an environmental awareness programme for primary schools here.

The event included a recycling competition and an educational talk on electricity generation, environmental concerns, and electrical safety by Sarawak Energy.

Held at SJK (C) Yuk Hin, the programme aimed to promote environmental awareness among students, integrating STEM elements.

It also aimed to enhance students’ English skills and raise awareness about environmental issues and initiatives.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Ismail, along with Marconi Madai, Sarawak Energy’s Senior VP for Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), and Mat Zinan Wahit, PPD Limbang Officer.

Sekolah Kebangsaan Limbang won the recycle competition, with Limpaki in second place and St Edmund in third after 48 students from 16 schools in Limbang showcased their recycling projects.

Also present at the event from Sarawak Energy were Robin Tigai, General Manager for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE); Julaidi Rasidi, Senior Manager for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA); Mahmood Long, Senior Manager for Environment, colleagues from HSSE and Project Delivery; as well as representatives from the District Education Office.
