KUCHING: The Sarawak Energy Junior Badminton Championship will kick off in Miri at Tung Sports Badminton Hall at Jalan Padang Kerbau from March 29 to 31.
This year Sarawak Energy (SEB) wants to hold the championship on a bigger scale where it will also be held in two other locations — Kuching and Sibu.
Attractive prizes worth more than RM8,000 await the winners.
The Sibu event will be held from Aug 16 to 18 while Kuching will host the final leg from Nov 22 to 24.
The grand finale from the three places will be held here from Dec 13 to 15 and the players will compete for the championship trophy, inclusive of medals and cash prizes.
The tournament is divided into categories of boy’s singles, girl’s singles, boys’ doubles and girls’ doubles.
The boy’s singles and the girl’s singles are for Under 10, Under 12, Under 15 and Under 19 while the boys’ doubles and the girls’ doubles are for Under 12, Under 15 and Under 19.
The tournament is open to all Sarawakians, permanent residents and those with work and study permits, between the ages of 19 years old and below.
The competition also aims at nurturing interest and develop potential young talents in badminton and provide avenue to groom young shuttlers to compete at local, regional and international level.
Registration forms are available at http://se2019.eventrunner.com.my and those interested can submit their forms online together with their registration fees which are RM10 per player for the singles categories and RM15 for the doubles categories.
