BINTULU: The state government is planning to establish a collection centre for the farms in Sebauh area.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said this is in line with the commitment of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to ensure that people in remote rural areas such as those in Sebauh to be on par with areas that are already developed.
He said he had discussed that matter with representatives of the people in the area and Utilities Minister Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
“We let him (Rundi) identify the strategic location for the centre,” he said at Patronas’ “ngiling tikai” ceremony at Rumah Meikle Ding in Sekutan here.
Uggah, who is also Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister, said agricultural programmes focused on increasing people’s income through the use of new technologies.
This requires the people to diversify their agricultural activities and not be limited to one crop.
