KUCHING: Police are urged to increase patrols and monitoring in the Seberang Hilir areas here to ensure the safety of the community, visitors and tourists.

Among the main tourist attractions are Kampung Boyan, Gersik and Sourabaya (BGS).

Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the effort is important to make the BGS area zero-crime and free from social problems.

“The BGS waterfront will be secured at night with the installation of street and garden lights soon.

“This is part of our efforts to improve the security as well as police assistance in the areas,” he said.

He said this after leading the BGS Village head of community (KMKK) and Village Development and Security committee (JKKK) for a visit to Kuching District police chief (KPD) ACP Awang Din Awang Gani here, recently.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also the Utilities Assistant Minister (Water Supply) and Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and Kuching North City Commission) explained that the JKKK BGS has been holding community activities with the Kuching District police headquarters (IPD) to strengthen the bond between them.
