MIRI: The second suspect in an armed robbery at a laundromat here was detained on Monday morning at Jalan Jati 2F, Desa Senadin.

The armed robbery occurred at Jalan Pointsetia in Lutong Baru last Saturday evening (March 13).  

Miri Criminal Investigation department (CID) personnel arrested the suspect around 11.55am during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Rentap’.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed that the 21-year-old man had been detained to assist investigations into the case. 

It was believed that the suspect was the driver of a white Proton Iswara car used in the incident.

Last Saturday, around 5.30pm, two suspects arrived at the laundromat in a car and one of them were seen clutching a sickle as he exited the vehicle and entered the premises.

The first suspect was apprehended less than four hours after the crime. 

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
