KUCHING: WormingUp, a Kuching-based non-profit organisation will be organising its second edition of EatUp Festival at the Giant Mall in Kota Padawan this weekend.
The event, with the theme “The Forgotten Food” which would be staged for two days, among others is aimed to educate people on how to properly deal with kitchen’s food wastes and systems to reduce the waste of food through the correct and effective ways.
It will commence at 10am and end at 6pm.
A simple ceremony would be held on March 16 to mark its opening, which would also feature a two-minute video presentation.
“The EatUp Festival 2019 suits people from all walks of life. This two-day event will include a series of fun activities, which consist of learning workshops, the right way to reduce food waste, exhibitions of special animal breeds and snacks exchange booth,” WormingUp said in a pre-event media statement today.
The organisers will also be providing free 1,500 packed food to those who come on the second day of the festival.
Special booths will be set up for the two-day event and public are invited to bring any expired or soon to be expired food that are no longer in use to the event in exchange for a mysterious gift.

No advance booking is required for those keen to take part in any of the workshops, WormingUp concluded through the statement.
