BINTULU: A secondary school teacher who reportedly rape and sexually assaulted two female students from a school in Sebauh was charged by the Sessions Court here on Thursday (Jan 12).
Bintulu district police chief Supt Bartholomew Umpit said in a statement that the suspect was charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code (statutory rape) and Section 14(a) and 15(a) Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (AKSTK).
Section 376 of the Penal Code carries a jail sentence of not less than five years and not more than 20 years.
Section 14(a) AKSTK, provides for a jail term of not more than 20 years and whipping while Section 15(a) carries a sentence of not more than 10 years in jail or fine of RM20,000 or both.
According to reports the two students lodged a police report explaining that the suspect, from Kelantan raped them in the secondary school’s music room in Sebauh.
The suspect was detained by police in Thailand after going under hiding and extradited back to Malaysia.
