MIRI: A total of 120 students from selected schools in Miri Division have benefitted from the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDC) Corporate Social Responsibility programme (CSR).
The event, held at Meritz Hotel here, was attended by Nordin Mus, representing the management of SEDC.
The SEDC CSR Ziarah Kasih Gawai event is part of the corporation’s CSR initiatives held in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak festival that was celebrated June 1.
“This annual programme aims to support underprivileged students from selected schools.
“Through this CSR programme, SEDC not only contributes resources and supports various community activities but also collaborates with different agencies to plan and execute initiatives aimed at assisting students in need, ” Nordin said.
Last year, the programme focused on schools in Kuching Division. Since 2020, SEDC has expanded its efforts to include students from six schools in Miri Division, collaborating with the Miri District Education Office to identify beneficiaries.
The schools involved are SK Miri, SK Pujut Corner, SK Jalan Bintang Miri, SMK Pujut, SMK Lutong and SMK Merbau.
The event kicked off with interactive sessions, including an introduction to hydrogen as a new energy source and workshops on entrepreneurship.
It concluded with the distribution of cash and school supplies to the students.
Also present were officers from the Miri District Office, teachers, and staff members from SEDC.
